Light Rail from Alicante
The coastal tram is perfect for a day trip into Alicante or other Costa Blanca towns as well!
The brand-new “tram-train” light rail service from Alicante to Calpe look great and offer a smooth ride up the Costa Blanca.
Conveniently, you can pick up the tram-train right next to the Calpe expressway, just 6 minutes by taxi to the Alta Vista villa.
You go through the vibrant hearts of the seaside towns on the way as well. Feel free to get out for lunch, and catch the next tram!
You might consider the Costa Blanca TRAM trains from the Alicante Airport to Calpe too!
If you don’t have much luggage and are an experienced traveller, you can transfer from the airport by taxi to the light rail.
The drive takes 20 minutes from the airport on the A-70 to the Luceros station to begin your tram trip up the coast on the the Red Line 1 to Benidorm.
The journey time of 2 hours isn’t too bad from Alicante, although it does involve a couple dozen quick stops on the way, with a change of trams at Benidorm to the Dénia-bound tram.
The scenery will indeed keep you occupied, and the trams run frequently, so stopping for lunch on the way is a great option.
Ibiza-bound? The light rail runs up the coast to the ferry.
Express Bus to Calpe
A bit quicker and even easier than the tram is the express bus from Alicante Airport to Calpe.
The ALSA busses leave just 150 metres from the airport (3 minute walk) at the Parada d’Autobus at the Alicante Airport.
At just 90 minutes, the express bus makes just two stops in Benidorm on your way up the Costa Blanca. Pricing is quite reasonable, and tickets are available from €10 per adult.
Private car to Calpe
The convenience of a private car service can make the expense worthwhile.
Fortunately, the local authorities at Elche and the airport district have clamped down on unscrupulous firms and drivers recently.
You should be able to get a car service to Calpe, but do be wary of prices or promises that seem too much!
